Fall is such an amazing time of year. My personal favorite of all of the seasons. Not only is my all time favorite Holiday in the fall, but it is also a seriously magical time of year. The leaves all change colors, the smell of burning wood and leaves in fireplaces takes over the entire city and apple and pumpkin flavored everything! How can you go wrong? Oh yes and did i mention my true love of layers, because why should you have to decide on just one shirt?
Ok let's get to the point of this article. How in the midst of all of these pumpkin pie flavored latte's, changing leaf colors and busy hustle and bustle of life am I supposed to figure out what I am going to be for Halloween. Girl I got you! I have hand picked various items from the shop and taken photos to help get your Halloween pumpkin rolling. Please come into the shop and check out the items yourself!

Hope everyone is having a happy holiday season filled with love, friends, and hopefully if you are lucky enough family. The holiday season is also a great time to roll up your sleeves and bust out some of those fancy DIY gifts that most people don't think of. Yes a new pair of BOHO earrings is always appreciated but an even cooler not-so-often thought of DIY gift is a simple at home recipe simple syrup. This ginger syrup is a great creative under $10 gift to make for your friends, family or even yourself. Below is a list of instructions for your viewing pleasure.
At home ginger syrup recipe
Things you will need. A funnel, fresh ginger, measuring cups, sugar, water, a pot, a container like bottle
Recipe. 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of ginger. ( 1 to 1 of all ingredients, if you wish to make more just keep the 1 to 1 ratio the same and increase
Boil one cup of water
Place one cup of sugar in a pot, The water will soon be added.
Add the cup of sugar to already boiling single cup of water. Stir in pot until the sugar dissolves.
Mince down the ginger into smaller pieces. About 1 cups worth. If you wish to add more then it will enhance the sharp ginger taste.
measure out the ginger to at least one cup
Add the ginger to the sugar water. Let sit for at least one hour. The longer it sits on a low heat setting, the more potent the ginger will taste
Strain the mixture into the bottle. The best technique is to take the funnel into the mouth of the jar, place the strainer at the top of the funnel and pour mixture in. The ginger chunks will be strained out.
Create your own creative label and gift to yourself or a friend.
Ginger syrup is great in moscow mules. It is also a great in espresso, lemonade and tea. Comment below images of your final product and other recipes you find ginger simple syrup to compliment.

Thrift Junkie Vintage is a full time job. I look forward to every time I open. The best way to always move in a positive direction is to start my mornings off right. One of the steps to starting a morning off on the correct side of the bed is to start it in silence. I love to sit in my sunroom and drink my morning coffee. The natural light and plants and art help ease me into my day. Websites like Pinterest help me collect my decorating ideas to make such calming spaces. What do your morning spots look like?
Saturday's are always an exciting day for Thrift Junkie Vintage Boutique. It's a day of exploring the community I live in. Checking out farmers markets and estate sales. Sometimes the avenues can be explored on my bicycle and other days in old trusty, my Nissan Frontier Truck so lovingly named River Joaquin Phoenix ( because who can chose their favorite of those two?)
As a collector you will start to notice that there is limited space for all of your amazing items and so organization is key. Thanks to amazing websites like Pinterest you can easily get ideas of how to organize your vintage finds in a beautiful manner. Today I am showing you a sneak into my own tiny bedroom that holds some of my most beloved finds. Enjoy!
These are just a few helpful hints how to creatively organize your collections instead of overwhelming yourself with all of your amazing vintage finds.
Just another reminder that Thrift Junkie Vintage Boutique will be parked out at the Roll Bicycle Art Festival tomorrow night. There is going to be live music by the amazing and talented Indy award winners Grant Sabin and Mike Clark as well as beautiful art by Josh Kennard, various bicycle enthusiast, the levitator lounge, food trucks, rain or shine! Yahoo! At the AHA, Krueser, Smokebrush Gallery Art Depot.
Spring has sprung, and just as much as I'm sure you have been waiting for the Game of Thrones premier, you've also been anticipating to wear flowers in your hair. Festival season is upon us. Shop local and get a flower headband from Thrift Junkie Vintage. They are $15 and can be custom made to fit your style and occasion. Rock on flower sisters.
Thrift Junkie Vintage Boutique would like to wish all of you a Happy 4th of July. "Merica"
As the spring season moves into the summer, and all of the seeds of your labor sprout into the beautiful plants that you will harvest all summer and fall, so too does Thrift Junkie grow. I know that Game of Thrones season finale is coming to a conclusion and you all are going to be needing something else to tune into and follow up on week after week. I would like Thrift Junkie Vintage to be that next program that you look forward to tune into. That being said, here is a preview of all of the work that has been done to get her to the state she's currently in. Enjoy!
